Peduli Anak Foundation

Lombok, Indonesia

Founded in 2006, Peduli Anak began with a mission to protect and educate children who had nowhere else to go. Today, it is home to 140 children and provides free education to over 100 more from surrounding low-income families. With dedicated caregivers, teachers, and social workers, the foundation has become one of the most comprehensive and well-run children’s organizations in Indonesia. Through our 2025 partnership, GM Children Foundation sponsored a Digital Lab Program, hiring a full-time computer teacher to help children develop essential digital and technology skills, — ensuring they are not left behind in an increasingly connected world.

When we visited Peduli Anak Foundation in Lombok, we quickly understood why our field officer called it “one of the best organization I’ve visited so far.” Each home houses ten children with one dedicated “mother,” creating a family-like environment where care feels both personal and consistent. Classrooms were filled with laughter and focus, caregivers were confident and attentive, and every corner of the campus reflected thoughtful planning and genuine warmth.

It’s evident to us that Peduli Anak isn’t just a shelter; it’s a full ecosystem where children grow up with stability, education, and dignity.

Here’s what stood out to us:

👪 Each home houses ten children with one dedicated “mother,” creating a close, family-like environment where every child feels cared for.

🏫 The campus is well equipped with an on-site school, clinic, mental-health workshops, and open spaces for sports and play, including a small swimming pool.

🧑‍🏫 Beyond the children who live on site, Peduli Anak also provides free education to more than one hundred students from low-income families in the neighborhood.

Still, as the world becomes increasingly digital, the team faced a challenge. While they had a few donated computers, there were no teachers trained to guide the students. Many children were eager to learn how to type, explore coding, or simply understand how the internet works. But the resources were limited.

To close this gap, GM Children Foundation launched a Digital Lab Program by hiring a full-time computer teacher to design and deliver technology classes. This ensures every child, regardless of background, can build essential digital skills, — from typing and online research to coding and introductory AI. It is a meaningful step toward equal opportunity, future studies, and modern careers.

2025

  • 📍 July — GM team visited Peduli Anak in Lombok, met with the staff and children, and learned about their education programs and community initiatives.

  • 💛 October — Officially sponsoring Peduli Anak’s new Digital Lab Program, funding a full-time computer teacher to start technology classes for the children.

Peduli Anak continues to expand its reach, providing education and care to more children in need. Beyond the Digital Lab, ongoing support helps sustain daily operations and open new opportunities for learning.
