Bina Siwi is a special-needs orphanage under the Ngudiraharjo Foundation, supporting children in Pajangan, a mountainous area where many with disabilities lack access to education, care, and basic welfare. Most children come from families facing severe economic hardship or abandonment, and many live with intellectual, hearing, or physical disabilities. Operating on a tight budget, the home focuses on daily care, therapy, and building each childβs independence and confidence. Through our 2025 partnership, GM Children Foundation is supporting essential repairs to doors, windows, and water taps to improve safety and daily living conditions.

When we arrived at Bina Siwi, the welcome was unforgettable. Children rushed forward with eager smiles, reaching out for handshakes and high-fives. Many had speech difficulties, yet their joy needed no words, their gestures spoke louder than anything else.
What touched us most was the mini-concert they had prepared: a heartfelt performance using Indonesian traditional music instruments, played with unmistakable pride and excitement. Some children danced freely to the rhythm, others sang softly or kept the beat with shy smiles, each expressing their energy and emotions in their own unique way.
Caring for children with special needs is never simple. As we spoke with the caregivers, they shared how they pour heart and intention into every part of daily life at Bina Siwi:
π± Stretching every resource with care: tending a small farm, cooking fresh meals, and building stable routines for the children.
π¨ Creating spaces for expression: encouraging arts, crafts, and music so each child can communicate and shine in their own way.
𧑠Guiding them toward independence: gently teaching life skills so children who cannot access formal schooling or jobs can grow with confidence and self-reliance.
As we walked around the compound, we noticed doors and windows held together with makeshift fixes, and water taps leaking from years of wear. With a very tight budget, repairs have understandably taken a back seat. But for Bina Siwi to continue its journey of care and independence, the children need a safer and more supportive environment.
This year, GM Children Foundation is supporting the home to repair doors, windows, and water taps, small but essential improvements that will make daily life safer and more comfortable for everyone.
2025
π August β GM visited Bina Siwi to better understand the daily routines, care approach, and needs of the children living there.
π° October β GM committed support of USD1250 for essential upgrades, including the repair of doors, windows, and water taps, ensuring the home can provide a more secure and reliable space for the children.
Bina Siwi continues to dedicate itself to children who require long-term guidance, stability, and a nurturing environment. Strengthening the home means giving these children more opportunities to learn, express themselves, and grow with confidence.
