Ava House is a community-based children’s home located on the Thailand–Myanmar border, founded by a former refugee named Dang. The home provides shelter, care, and education for children who have lost parents, escaped conflict, or come from single-parent families facing hardship. GM Children Foundation supported Ava House by funding high school tuition fees and improving the children’s living environment, from new bunk beds and mattresses to essential repairs and sanitation.

support
The story of Ava House began with one man’s quiet determination to give back. Having grown up as a refugee himself, Dang, the Director of Ava House, knows firsthand what it means to live with uncertainty and to survive through kindness. Together with his wife and one caregiver, he looks after 25 children, making sure each child feels cared for, supported, and guided every day.
📚 Beyond providing shelter, the founder also teaches life skills and basic digital literacy to help children build confidence for the future.
🌾 The children grow vegetables and fruits on site, a hands-on activity that teaches responsibility while also supplying food for the home.
💰 Operates on a very limited budget of just $2,300 a month, focusing every resource on the children’s daily needs, which often means postponing essential facility improvements.
GM Children Foundation’s support focuses on helping Ava House meet the children’s basic needs, because stability begins with comfort and dignity. Our grant of $4,988 USD covers high school tuition fees, new bunk beds and mattresses, rooftop repairs, and disinfection treatments. By improving living conditions and helping older children stay in school, we hope to ease the caregivers’ burden and keep Ava House a place of safety, growth, and hope.
2025
📍 April — GM team visited Ava House in Chiang Mai. Together with local friends, we brought donated clothes and spent time learning about the children’s stories and daily life.
💛 July — We sponsored Ava House with a grant of $4,988 USD to cover high school tuition fees, new bunk beds and mattresses, rooftop repairs, and disinfection treatments.
While Dang and his small team work tirelessly to run the home on a limited budget, there is still room to make the children’s daily life more comfortable and dignified.
You can make a difference by supporting:
🍚 Food Supplies
Since COVID-19, food prices in Chiang Mai have risen by over 30%, while the home’s budget has stayed the same. Your support can help provide more nutritious meals with fresh ingredients and enough protein for growing children.
🎒 School Supplies
Every child deserves to feel confident at school. Sponsoring new uniforms and basic school materials helps them feel ready to learn.
